Colgrain Equestrian Centre is the family home of the Spy family - Fiona and Colin and their son, James and daughter in law Charlotte. It was originally started by Fiona's father, Bill and remained his home till he sadly passed away in 2013.
Fiona is the coach at Colgrain, she has had a lifelong passion for horses, as a child she was a keen Pony Club member and progressed on to become a keen show jumper producing her own horse successfully to Grade A and competed in several national finals including the Foxhunter final at Horse of the Year Show.
Fiona holds several qualifications including BHSII (BHS Senior Coach in Complete Horsemanship), UKCC level 3 (Generic), and EFI level 1 coach. She is a former BHS assessor and a former Road Safety assessor and trainer. She enjoys coaching riders of all abilities including preparation for competitions and exams and played an active role in helping her son James, an equine dental technician, who has evented to what is now CCI3* level. Fiona is supported by a team of dedicated staff, most of whom have been trained at Colgrain.
